“Where in the world is the PHENOM?!?!? Sorry Carmen Sandiego…but scoot on over and make room for another FEMME FATALE teaching humility, kicking depressions butt, dreaming out loud, being adventurous, and showing that work can be fun along this journey of life with a little hint of Nat Geo and the Travel Channel and of course your occasional splash of the Food Network. I’m like Carmen Sandiego 2.0.”

Seattle boss raises entire company’s minimum wage to $70,000

April 15, 2015 I’m not sure if you’ve heard about this amazing boss, but this guy is a true hero for his company. Wish more and more owners would step up to the plate for their employees, right? There’s no reason a CEO should be making $1 million a year when their employees are barely making ends meet. Just my opinion, but owners tend to forget who helped them build and grow their company. I plan to be in a position to do this exact same thing for my own staff one day. Mark my words! ~Hospitality Shero After hearing about a study that claimed income — to a certain level — directly affects one’s emotional well-being, the founder of a Seattle-based credit card processing company announced Monday that he will take a large salary cut so he can increase the pay for each employee to at least $70,000 a year. The New York Times reported that Dan Price, the head of Gravity Payments, told his 120-person staff about the plan after talking to friends …

Dog Vs Cat: Cute ‘Ninja’ Kitten Shows Doberman Who’s Boss

April 1, 2015 Like, seriously? If you don’t laugh, or even SMILE, at this video, you need to have your human card taken away. lol I had two dogs, Prince and Bandit, and Prince (the brown one) was just like the kitten…not recognizing his smaller size and chasing down German Shepherds and horses (from a previous neighbor)! I miss all of my pets (7 birds and 2 dogs) so I get my pet fix through these videos (and visiting pet stores!). Funny, the dog’s name is Bishop (Looking sideways at my readers…) Check it out: Well, did you laugh or smile? I still chuckle at this video! Pets are so special! Until next time, y’all… ~Hospitality Shero

Uplifting: Waiter gets the ultimate tip from a generous customer: See his brand-new smile

March 11, 2015 Who loves “feel good” stories? I don’t know about YOU, but I absolutely LOVE feel good stories!!! They show me that there is still a little bit of humanity left in this crazy world we live in. When I came across this article yesterday, I knew that I HAD to post it. Hopefully, it inspires others to give back, without having their own hand out in return! 🙂 This is what GIVING BACK is all about: A waiter at a Wichita, Kansas diner has a good reason to smile these days. After years of painful dental problems, Brian Maixner is getting thousands of dollars of work done on his teeth—all without paying a penny, thanks to a generous diner who wanted to help. Timirie Shibley, who owns the Doo-Dah Diner in Wichita with her husband, told that no one is more deserving of the grand gesture than Maixner. “He’s one of those employees you wish you had six of,” Shibley said. “His whole mission is to please people as quickly as …

Photo of the Week: Coolest. Stage. Ever.

February 26, 2015 Incredible floating stage on Lake Constance in Bregenz, Austria. The Bregenzer Festspiele (Bregenz Festival) has become renowned for its unconventional staging of shows. Verdi’s opera, “A Masked Ball” in 1999, featured a giant book being read by a skeleton. via The Telegraph. Is this cool, or what?! Thoughts? Until next time… ~Hospitality Shero

Our Very Own Employee Saves a Condominium Resident from an Assault!

February 18, 2015 True story. One of our employees, who shall remain anonymous, was working in a luxury condo building when this crime took place. Mind you, he is one of our newest hires, just a few months with us, which makes this all the more special!!! So glad to have him as part of the team! The good ones are like diamonds in the rough! Original article, which was featured in the Washington Post, a major D.C. area newspaper: Concierge stops man lurking behind plant from assaulting woman A concierge came to the rescue Tuesday morning when a woman was assaulted by a man lurking in the vestibule of her apartment building. The 20-year-old woman stepped into the entrance way of her building in the 1900 block of Clarendon Boulevard at 8:05 a.m. to check whether her Uber driver had arrived, Arlington police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said. A man who had been standing behind a potted bamboo plant in the vestibule grabbed her from behind. A concierge in the lobby of the building saw …
