True story. One of our employees, who shall remain anonymous, was working in a luxury condo building when this crime took place. Mind you, he is one of our newest hires, just a few months with us, which makes this all the more special!!! So glad to have him as part of the team! The good ones are like diamonds in the rough!
Original article, which was featured in the Washington Post, a major D.C. area newspaper:
Concierge stops man lurking behind plant from assaulting woman
A concierge came to the rescue Tuesday morning when a woman was assaulted by a man lurking in the vestibule of her apartment building.
The 20-year-old woman stepped into the entrance way of her building in the 1900 block of Clarendon Boulevard at 8:05 a.m. to check whether her Uber driver had arrived, Arlington police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said. A man who had been standing behind a potted bamboo plant in the vestibule grabbed her from behind.
A concierge in the lobby of the building saw the woman struggling and pulled the attacker off her, Sternbeck said. When police arrived, the concierge had the man pinned to the ground. The woman was not injured.
“This concierge should be commended for, one, his courage to intervene, and two, his quick decision-making. Because who knows what would have happened to the female victim,” Sternbeck said.
Police arrested Jerome King, 32, of the District at the scene and charged him with abduction with intent to defile. Authorities said that King is a registered sex offender with a prior conviction for child sexual abuse in Prince George’s County.
