Conde Nast Traveler Names 15 Best Florida Hotels

January 30, 2014 I don’t know about you but, after reading through the list, I am eager to visit a couple of these properties! Especially the hand-crafted cocktail rooftop bar!! ~Hospitality Shero Of the 15 best hotels in Florida named by the 2014 Conde Nast Traveler Reader’s Choice Awards, Central Florida and South Florida hotels take the cake. Heading up the list is The Pearl in Rosemary Beach, a staff favorite here at Florida Travel + Life, and just along the scenic highway 30A, which runs from Destin to Panama City Beach, full of top-notch eateries, great golf, and kitschy antiqueing. Next, The Alfond Inn in Winter Park, just outside Orlando. The Alfond was recently the site of the James Beard Award nominees’ showcase dinner, and just walking distance from picturesque Park Avenue. It’s owned by Rollins College, located across the street, and is designed in the same Spanish style adobe and tile architecture of the college. A gorgeous modern art gallery can be found inside. Third, the Epicurean in Tampa — a fully food-themed …

January 28, 2015 After 300 unsuccessful job applications 22-year-old Alfred Ajani’s search for work had become “depressing”. So much so that he decided he needed “do something different”, heading down to the UK’s busiest train station with a sign asking passers-by for a job. It worked. Quote of the Week

January 27, 2015 Do you REALLY know what this quote means? Here’s a prime example: I HAD an insurance agent to provide for my business insurance needs. Had this company for a couple of years. Funny thing is, up until a couple of months ago, I hadn’t heard from my agent since I bought the policy with them. Let’s see, oh, that must have been almost FOUR YEARS AGO! Yep, you guessed correctly. They’re h-i-s-t-o-r-y! #unacceptable #failed_service Morale of the story? Your customers want to know that you see them as more than a sale. A buck. A contract. A commission. Take the time to really get to know your customers. Check in on them from time to time. Get updates on how well you and/or your company is performing. Find out if they’re happy, for goodness sake! You know what? I check in with my clients every two weeks, just to make sure all is well. If all is not well, then I can find out right away, instead of months down the line. …

Inspirational: Chick-fil-A Owner Declines Homeless Man’s Offer to Work For Food and Gives Him Something Even Better

January 21, 2015 Mark Meadows is no stranger to the public eye, but not because he wants attention. The local owner of a Birmingham, AL, Chick-fil-A, Meadows is known around those parts for being something of a Good Samaritan. Last year, for instance, when the “Snowpocalypse” blanketed parts of Alabama with snow and stranded motorists along Highway 280, Meadows distributed chicken sandwiches and chicken biscuits free of charge to drivers stuck in their cars. And last Wednesday, when a young man came in from the cold and asked if he could do some chores in exchange for food, Meadows didn’t hesitate to help. A customer caught the incident, snapped a photo, uploaded it to Facebook, and has made Meadows famous once again for his generous heart: The caption below the photo reads: “I’m a Chick-fil-A fan and have been for years. I trust the food for my son and support companies that are founded on Christian beliefs. What I saw today just confirms why this chain is so successful — God blesses His people. My son …
